International Student Empowerment Group

 

The International Student Empowerment Group (ISEG) is a weekly English-speaking group for undergraduate and graduate international students. ISEG provides a safe and supportive space for international students to share their stories, challenges, and successes as they work to achieve their goals at Penn. The goal of ISEG is to cultivate personal and academic growth by embodying resilience, learning from each other, and creating a caring community. This group intends to centralize transnational experiences while honoring different intersecting identities including, but not limited to, race/ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, faith/spiritual practices, and class.

Topics of discussion may include:

  • Nurturing and developing relationships internationally during a pandemic
  • Navigating the current immigration climate in the U.S.
  • Negotiating expectations and demands from different cultural contexts and norms
